BEX Market is currently offering a 10% discount campaign exclusively for our Japan Yahoo! Auction proxy purchase service! Seizing this opportunity, we’d like to introduce the advantages of Yahoo! Auction, along with its basic usage methods and key points of caution. This will help you effortlessly and confidently use Yahoo! Auction through BEX Market to purchase a wide range of high-quality, affordable Japanese products from overseas!
What are the benefits of using Yahoo! Auction?
Yahoo! Auction is an online auction platform with a wide variety of product choices, offering not only new items but also a large selection of second-hand and rare goods at unbelievably discounted prices. Through BEX Market, you can bring these items home together!
However, like any online auction platform, there are important points to keep in mind when using Japan's Yahoo! Auction. For instance, bids cannot be canceled once placed, and refunds or returns are not allowed after winning an auction. Additionally, since most Yahoo! Auction sellers are individual sellers, it’s essential to check the seller’s ratings and credibility before bidding. Also, make sure the product photos and descriptions match the actual item.
For more detailed usage instructions and important points to note, please continue reading below!
How to Use Yahoo! Auction and Important Points to Note
The steps to successfully bid on items on Yahoo! Auction through BEX Market consist of 6 steps. Although it may take some time, following these steps ensures a secure transaction, so please read through to the end.
Step 1: Go to the Yahoo! Auction website and search for items on Yahoo! Auction.
First, you can go to Yahoo! Auction and search for the items you are interested in.
Step 2: Check the product information and the seller's ratings
After finding the item, you can view the detailed information on the product page. Using Chiikawa’s merchandise as an example, you can check the product details and the seller's (出品者) ratings.
We will provide a separate article to explain the various terms and vocabulary used on Yahoo! Auction in detail, so don't worry!
1)Product information(in red text)
Remember to carefully review the product description and relevant information first, paying attention to the following points:
- Product Name and Image: Make sure the product name is clear, the images are sharp, and verify that the images match the description. (Image 1)
- 「現在」(Current Minimum Bid Amount): Check the current bid price to avoid placing a bid that's too low and missing out on winning. (Image 1)
- 「即決」(Buy Now Price): This refers to the amount required to purchase the item immediately. (Image 1)
- 「商品情報」(Product Information), 「商品説明」(Product Description): Verify that the product description matches the product name and images. (Image 2, Image 3)
- 「状態」(Product Condition): Understand whether the item is new or used, and check for any detailed descriptions of flaws or issues. (Image 2)
- Shipping and Sales Tax: Some items may incur additional shipping fees or Japanese sales tax. 2)Seller Information and Ratings(in blue text)
Choosing sellers with good ratings can reduce risks. Please check the following points below:
- Rating History: Check the seller's rating history, including the total number of reviews and the percentage of positive feedback. Sellers with more positive reviews are generally more reliable. (Image 2, Image 5)
- Identity Verification: Confirm whether the seller has completed "identity verification" by Yahoo! Auction. If it shows "本人確認済" (identity verified), the seller is more trustworthy. If it shows "本人確認前" (identity not verified), extra caution is needed. (Image 2, Image 5)
- Rating Color Indicator: Green indicates good feedback and positive transaction experience. Red indicates poor feedback, requiring extra caution. (Image 6)

If you need to confirm product details or have other questions for the seller, we recommend contacting them through BEX Market. We can inquire on your behalf and provide professional support.
Step 3: Place a bid through BEX Market
After confirming the product information and the seller's ratings, you can place a bid through the "Place an auction request" form, and BEX Market will place the bid on your behalf.
First, you can go to the BEX Market homepage and click on "Yahoo Auction."
Once on the "Place an auction request" form page, enter the URL of the Yahoo! Auction item, the product name, and select the auction method option.
Option 1:Auction (Place a bid)
Auction means placing a bid. Enter the maximum amount you are willing to pay for the item, which is your budget. The system will automatically place bids on your behalf based on your budget (auto-bidding). Below is how the auto-bidding works:
What is auto-bidding?
The system will compete with other bidders based on the current bidding situation and place bids at the price within the budget you set. It ensures that the final amount you pay will not exceed your budget. The increment for the auto-bid amount is calculated according to the unit table provided by Yahoo! Auction.
Auto-bidding Unit Table
Current Item Price → Bidding Increment
¥1 to ¥1,000 (not including ¥1,000) → ¥10
¥1,000 to ¥5,000 (not including ¥5,000) → ¥100
¥5,000 to ¥10,000 (not including ¥10,000) → ¥250
¥10,000 to ¥50,000 (not including ¥50,000) → ¥500
Above ¥50,000 → ¥1,000
Note: The details may change, so please refer to the official Yahoo! Auction website for the most accurate information.

Option 2: Buy Now
If the seller has set a Buy Now price (即決価格で落札), you can choose to enter that price to purchase the item directly, without participating in the bidding, ensuring a quick transaction.
Step 4:Pay the bid amount
After submitting the auction request through BEX Market, you need to prepay the bid amount you set for the item. If you do not win the auction, you can choose a refund method:
- Cash Refund: The paid amount will be refunded directly to your payment account.
- Points Refund: The amount will be converted into BEX Market points for easier use in the future.
If you win the auction, BEX Market will complete the process on your behalf!
Step 5:After winning the auction, pay the shipping cost
After completing the winning process, the item will be shipped to the BEX Market warehouse. You will then need to pay the shipping cost. The shipping cost includes:
- Domestic Shipping Cost in Japan: The cost to ship the item from the seller's location to the BEX Market warehouse.
- International Shipping Cost: The cost to ship the item from the BEX Market warehouse to your designated address.
Handling Fee: Depending on the shipping method, we will charge a handling fee of ¥200 or ¥300.
